Objectives

Graduates of the Civil Engineering Technology program will:

  1. Obtain gainful employment as Engineering/Surveying Technicians, Drafters/Designers, or Certified Laboratory/Field Testing Technicians in a Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or Public Works related field.
  2. Develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform testing and inspection of construction materials and operations in both the laboratory and the field to evaluate compliance with project plans and specifications. 
  3. Develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform land and construction surveying tasks using current surveying instruments and technologies and computer-aided drafting systems for various land and construction surveying projects.

Required courses will be taught in sequential blocks of instruction. Students must earn a C- or better in all CET and GEMT courses to progress in the program and graduate. Students must also have a 2.0 GPA in the program’s required curriculum in order to be eligible for a certificate or degree.
