Each course must be completed with a C or better before the student can progress in the program.
Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT)
The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy is a degree advancement program, offering
students the opportunity to enhance their bedside understanding, and obtain insight into healthcare
administration and healthcare leadership. This approach helps the program ensure that its
graduates are well-rounded, skilled, and prepared to meet the demands of the healthcare field.
The program offers a multidisciplinary approach to medicine for registered respiratory therapists.
Program Outcomes
ELO #1: Enhanced Clinical Competency: Improve understanding of advanced respiratory care techniques, including mechanical ventilation, airway management, and therapeutic interventions.
ELO #2: Interprofessional Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals from various disciplines to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with respiratory conditions.
ELO #3 Integrate current research and evidence-based guidelines: Apply evidence-based guidelines into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes and advance the field of respiratory therapy.
BSRT Admissions Criteria
- Applicants must have earned an Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), or Associate of Occupational Science (AOS), or equivalent in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC or CAAHEP-accredited program.
- Currently hold an active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher in their Associate Degree.
- Must provide proof of a valid respiratory care practitioner (RCP) license from any state.
- Applicants must have a current BLS/CPR health care provider certification.
