Minor in Sport Management

Sport Management Standards

HPSS offers undergraduates a Minor in Sport Management. In completing the minor, candidates will gain skills necessary to become qualified sport managers. To complete the Sport Management minor, students are required to obtain 27 credits of coursework which includes the core and two objective areas: 

Core Requirements (24 credits). Courses include Individual and Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Introduction to Sport Psychology, Introduction to Sport Law, Sport Marketing, Sport Communication, Facility Planning and Design, and Sport Management Practicum. 

Elective Courses (3 credits). Students select coursework, in collaboration with their major advisor, that provides knowledge and skill to benefit the student in their future career. 

Candidates must also achieve the following in addition to completing the course requirements:

  1. A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) in all required and elective minor courses.

  2. A minimum GPA of 2.75 in the minor.
