B.S. Chemistry

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry should complete ENGL 1101 and a General Education Objective 2 course during the freshman year, and ENGL 1102 no later than the sophomore year. (General Education Objective 1 is satisfied by taking ENGL 1101 AND ENGL 1102.The mathematics requirement (Objective 3) should be fulfilled by MATH 1170 and MATH 1175 as early as feasible. Courses satisfying General Education Objectives 4, 6, 9, and either 7 or 8 (see the General Education Requirements described in the Academic Information section of this catalog) are typically completed later in the program.

Students should plan to complete CHEM 1111 and CHEM 1112 in the freshman year, and CHEM 3301 and CHEM 3302 in the sophomore year, and should confer with an advisor in the Chemistry Department to plan the best schedule to complete the remaining science classes below. Because many courses are in structured prerequisite sequences and are not offered every semester, deferring science classes to later years can increase the time required to obtain the degree.
