Accelerated B.A. Elementary Education to M.S. Deaf Education with Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Teaching Endorsement K-12

This accelerated program provides an opportunity for outstanding bachelor degree education students at Idaho State University to complete a fast-track program during the summer and last two semesters of their bachelors degree program. Students must be in good academic standing with the Department of Teaching and Educational Studies and Idaho State University, and have demonstrated successful completion of sign language courses and upper division courses in the bachelors degree elementary education program.

Please contact the Graduate Program Director regarding acceptance into the Graduate School and the Master of Science Deaf Education program. A separate application to the Graduate School is necessary for all accelerated programs. Students accepted into this accelerated undergraduate program may take departmentally approved graduate coursework as part of their undergraduate curriculum. Students with senior standing may complete up to 12 graduate credits. These credits will count toward both their bachelor's and master's degrees. For details on accelerated programs at Idaho State University, please see Degree Requirements.

Licensure will not be granted until successful completion of the M.S. Deaf Education degree and all other state licensure requirements have been met, including exams and the student teaching internship.

Requirements for a B.A. in Elementary Education to Masters of Science in Deaf Education:

  1. Complete the General Education Requirements for a Bachelor's degree, completing all General Education Objectives, plus any additional elective Objective courses required to bring their total to a minimum of 36 credits;

  2. Complete the Professional Education Core;

  3. Complete the Elementary Education-required courses; and

  4. Complete the Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement courses (listed below).
