B.S. Health Science, Accelerated Pre-Occupational Therapy Concentration
Accelerated BS to MOT Program
Students accepted into an accelerated undergraduate program may take departmentally approved graduate coursework as part of their undergraduate curriculum. These credits will count towards both their bachelor's and master's degrees and can fulfill major requirements, upper-division requirements, and/or free electives. For details on accelerated programs at Idaho State University, please see (Degree Requirements).
Once accepted into an accelerated degree program, it is strongly recommended for students to stay in close communication with their advisor regarding pursuit of acceptance into the Graduate School and the master's degree program at Idaho State University. Acceptance into an accelerated program during the bachelor's degree program is the first step in the admissions process. A separate application to the Graduate School is necessary for all accelerated programs. For more information regarding application and admission to the Graduate School at Idaho State University, please see the Graduate Admissions section of the graduate catalog (http://coursecat.isu.edu/graduate/graduateadmissions/).
This accelerated program gives outstanding BSHS Pre-OT concentration students a "fast-track" option to pursue graduate-level coursework towards the Master in Occupational Therapy degree during the last semester of undergraduate coursework and count up to 12 credits of that coursework towards completion of the bachelor's degree.
Program Admissions Requirements
Students must complete the BSHS Pre-OT Accelerated Concentration application and be accepted into the BSHS Pre-OT Accelerated Concentration. Students who are interested in applying to the BSHS Pre-OT Accelerated Concentration should meet with a Health Sciences Advisor as well as an admissions advisor from the OT program to plan their coursework and ensure they are on track to apply to the program during the Spring (January 15) of their junior year and start the program during August of their senior year. Application to the concentration requires students complete all major and concentration coursework, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement.
Pre-OT Accelerated concentration students who wish to continue into the MOT program must earn a grade of B or higher in all senior year courses, in addition to completing an application to the Graduate School.
