Course Learning Outcomes are measurable statements that are used to identify the specific knowledge and skills that a student should have at the end of a course.

EMS 3300
L1- Examine principles of personnel management that contribute to the effectiveness of an EMS organization.
L2- Solve process issues that impede the organizational effectiveness of an EMS agency.
L3- Describe human resource management practices given a caregiver behavior issue.
L4- Describe resource management practices when faced with a shortage of an essential EMS supply.
L5- Identify procurement policy for different EMS system organizational structures.

EMS 3310
L1- Students will evaluate local, state, federal, and private sector strategic plans to identify common strategic planning components.
L2- Students will apply the principles of professionalism by aligning strategic plans, budgets, programs, projects, and tactics.
L3- Students will work collaboratively and demonstrate the ability to review and provide meaningful feedback within the strategic planning process.
L4- Students will compare and apply the principles of line-item budgeting and zero-based budgeting, and develop a budget reduction strategy.
L5- Students will demonstrate project management principles and create a project plan tied to a program budget.
L6- Students will combine knowledge of homeland security grants and develop a grant investment justification.

EMS 3320
L1- Describe how EMS is integral to comprehensive risk analysis, disaster mitigation, planning and response.
L2- Define management and organizational structure appropriate for EMS to utilize during normal and non-normal operations.
L3- Outline operational goals during non-normal operations.
L4- Develop criteria to determine when EMS operations transition between normal and nonnormal.
L5- Detail appropriate training and continuing education standards to ensure an EMS workforce is properly prepared to function during periods of non-normal operations.
L6- Synthesize relevant information and predict the impact of a variety of natural and manmade disasters on the delivery of out-of-hospital healthcare.

EMS 3335
L1- Planning and response.

L3- Identify an operational issue with the delivery of EMS that would benefit from research.
L4- Describe Unit Hour Utilization and Break-Even financial analysis techniques.
L5- Workforce is properly prepared to function during periods of non-normal operations.
L6- Identify factors that lead to caregiver fatigue and substandard performance. Illustrate the use of research methodology to solve an EMS administrative issue.
L7- Given an EMS deployment problem and description of resources, show organizational options to resolve deployment problem.

EMS 4409
L1- To gain practical leadership experience within the EMS industry.
L2- Apply knowledge and skills learned in previous university coursework.
L3- To develop and refine oral and written communication skills.
L4- To demonstrate the ability to formulate a research or project proposal.
L5- To work collaboratively with an EMS or fire agency to coordinate and complete the research project.
L6- Write a research paper or project summary following APA format.
