Accelerated B.S. to M.S. in Homeland Security and Emergency Management

Students accepted into an accelerated undergraduate program may take departmentally approved graduate coursework as part of their undergraduate curriculum. These credits will count towards both their bachelor's and master's degrees and can fulfill major requirements, upper-division requirements, and/or free electives. Once accepted into an accelerated degree program, it is strongly recommended for students to stay in close communication with their advisor regarding pursuit of acceptance into the Graduate School and the master's degree program at Idaho State University. Acceptance into an accelerated program during the bachelor's degree program is the first step in the admissions process. A separate application to the Graduate School is necessary for all accelerated programs. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Accelerated Criteria

A maximum of three graduate-level courses from the graduate program may be used for the program, provided that these three courses are completed with a grade of B- or better. The Master's HSEM courses that can be counted towards the BS are HSEM 5540, HSEM 5570, HSEM 5580, and HSEM 5598 (Special Topics). The nine graduate-level credits will count toward meeting the undergraduate and graduate program requirements. As additional information, for the Master's in HSEM program, the total number of credits for the program is 30. An additional 21 credits of graduate coursework is required for the accelerated MS HSEM program, including 6 credits of HSEM 6690 Thesis or HSEM 6680 Capstone Project.
