Applying to Graduate

Please refer to the Degree Requirements and General Education pages for specific program requirement information.

Graduation Application

All students seeking a degree or certificate are required to apply for a graduation term: May, August, or December, using their MyISU account.  Please refer to the Academic Calendar for specific dates and deadlines.

The official submission of a graduation application initiates a faculty recommendation review process, overseen by the governing authorities responsible for the official conferral of degrees and certificates.

  • To ensure a smooth process, we strongly encourage students to complete their graduation application at least one full semester before their anticipated graduation term.
  • The Office of the Registrar collaborates closely with departments and academic advisors to ensure students stay on track to fulfill all graduation requirements by their expected graduation date once a graduation application is on file.
  • Students are expected to work closely with their academic advisor to meet all degree, major, and/or minor requirements.   Any modifications or adjustments to the program of study must be officially recorded on the student's degree audit record prior to the conferral of a degree/certificate.

How To Apply

Processing Fee

  • All applicants are required to pay a non-refundable diploma and processing fee of $20.00 per application, which will be charged to their student account.

Additional Deadlines

Transfer Work

  • All transfer coursework not yet completed must be disclosed to the graduation staff at ISU in the Office of the Registrar.
  • In order for a degree or certificate to be awarded, all transfer coursework with pending grades must be received by ISU within three weeks after the graduation date.  All final transfer grades must be included on the official transcript for a credential to be formally awarded in the corresponding ISU posting period.
  • All transfer coursework applied to the program of study must be completed by the end of the ISU term in which the student plans to graduate. See Academic Calendar for dates.
  • Transfer in-progress (TIP) grades will prevent the awarding of a degree or certificate. Students with TIP grades must have an official transcript sent directly from the issuing institution to the ISU Office of the Registrar with final grades posted before a degree or certificate can be awarded.

Incomplete Grades

  • All incomplete (I) or in-progress (IP) grades received in ISU courses must be resolved before degrees are awarded.
